Bonaire Pros
Grocery Shopping on Bonaire
Grocery shopping on Bonaire has come a long way in quality, selection and shopping options. Whether you love to cook or just want to save money on food costs during your vacation, Bonaire has amazing choices for such a small island. Here’s a run down of our favorites for filling the fridge.
Van den Tweel Supermarket
Van den Tweel offers a wide variety of grocery products from Europe and the USA. Part of a large Dutch chain, they specialize in fresh produce, fruits, fresh meat, chicken, fish, dairy and more. You’ll also find a complete bakery, large wine section and a huge selection of deli items, meats and cheeses from around the world. In addition to being Bonaire’s most expansive supermarket, you’ll find treats from fresh smoothies to their own orange juicing machine where you can fill different sized bottles with freshly squeezed juice. Bring reusable tote bags, as these are not provided (you can purchase bags inside if needed). You will need a quarter to access a shopping cart (refunded upon return).

Why you might not want to shop here:
Their selection of fresh fruits and vegetables is limited

Bondigro
The Bondigro – short for Bonaire Discount Grocery – has been purchased and under new ownership and management. Their mission is still to provide the lowest price on everyday groceries. They recently moved to a brand-new building in the Kaya Industria – the same street as where the big guys are! They offer a basic assortment of everyday groceries. If you are on a budget, flexible with your grocery list and happy to support a local company, then Bondigro is the place to go!
